The Client purchased this original 1932 Charles J. Smale Estate in the heart of the historic Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles, California.  The Client wished to restore this English Country Manor styled home while adding many new features throughout.  Gary McBournie was hired to create a holistic design and vision meant to enhance the existing design aesthetic created by Smale; many of the original details and finishes will be incorporated into the new design. New finishes, lighting, flooring, and cabinetry throughout the house underscore the new second floor Bedroom addition and new open skylit central stairwell.

The house will have all new high efficiency Mechanical and Electrical systems augmented by a new Photovoltaic Electric system.  The project also incorporates a private natural Well which will supply water for the Estate’s Landscape Irrigation system.  Robert Truskowski and Louis Marano created a natural Landscape design that is enhancing the property’s existing beauty; added elements such as a new Pool & Spa, hardscape, Trellis & Arbors and Carport (all part of the Photovoltaic System) all enrich the design concept.
